WHY EXPERIENCE MATTERS

Today, the term Pilates is used to describe a wide range of exercise classes. While many provide a good workout, not all are rooted in the system that Joseph Pilates carefully developed and taught.

At St. Joe Pilates, we teach the original Classical Pilates method—a comprehensive system designed to improve strength, mobility, posture, balance, and control through precise movement. Every exercise has a purpose, and every session builds on the last, creating lasting improvements rather than simply delivering a workout.

Unlike many modern Pilates classes that borrow selected exercises or focus primarily on the reformer, Classical Pilates follows Joseph Pilates’ complete method. It incorporates the full range of specialized equipment—including the Reformer, Cadillac, Wunda Chair, Ladder Barrel, Spine Corrector, and Mat—to address each client’s individual needs.

Our instruction is grounded in more than 600 hours of comprehensive teacher training, ongoing professional education, and the authentic lineage of Joseph Pilates through Romana Kryzanowska and Alycea Ungaro’s Real Pilates Teacher Training program.

Whether you’re recovering from injury, improving athletic performance, maintaining an active lifestyle, or simply wanting to move better, you’ll experience Pilates as it was originally intended: a disciplined, intelligent system that strengthens the body from the inside out.

Experience Authentic Pilates

If you’ve tried Pilates before and felt it was just another fitness class, you may not have experienced the original method. Discover the difference that expert instruction, individualized programming, and authentic Classical Pilates can make.

MEET MARY GAIL

My Pilates journey began in 2017 in Ridgway, Colorado under the guidance of Erica Young.

What started as a personal pursuit quickly became a passion for helping others discover the strength, confidence, and freedom that thoughtful movement can provide.

After a successful corporate career, I chose to dedicate myself to pursuing comprehensive Classical Pilates Instruction.

Today, I continue to study, learn, and refine my skills through advanced training, workshops, and mentorship opportunities.

I believe great teaching is never finished. Every client deserves instruction that is precise, informed, and continually evolving.
