My Pilates journey started on my birthday in March 2018. I was not physically active with an unhealthy BMI. I lived across the street from Ridgway Pilates and wanted to see if I could live in my body as those who practiced under Erica Young and her team, Stacia and Natasha. My foundational experience was top notch. As I changed physically, what unexpectedly surprised me was the change of mental fortitude. Joseph Pilates return to life understanding is a gift to those who practice. The Pilates method benefits all who practice no matter what stage of life or state of being. It became my passion in life.
I currently offer private sessions using classical apparatus true to Joseph Pilates' original designs.
Classical Pilates reflects heavily on the original system of exercise and apparatus created by Joseph Pilates in the early 1940s. Developed as a holistic system to improve mental alertness, posture, coordination, responsiveness, and precision of movement by strengthening the core muscle groups and focusing on spinal flexibility. Classical Pilates stresses the order of exercise, set repetitions, and coordinated breathwork, and it is performed on classical apparatus based on Joe’s designs. Classical Pilates is a vigorous workout designed to challenge the mind and the body!
In Classical Pilates, the precision of movement is critical to performing each exercise correctly. “It’s better to do fewer repetitions of each exercise slowly and precisely, than more repetitions with incorrect form or posture."
